The collaboration album of Blues and Rock ‘n Roll is the brainchild of songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Daniel Nathan and engineer/producer Jack LeTourneau. In addition to Nathan, the driving force behind the band is Brian Nolan (American Hi-Fi, The Lemonheads, SUNDRIEDTRUTH) on drums and Zach Steiner (Into Arcadia, Misha Sigfried and His Band) on bass. Guest vocalist Ben Hall (The Ragadors) is featured on “Homework” and “American Girl” and rapper/MC Blax co-wrote the title track “Leaders of the Revolution.”
Also heard on the record are Nicole Waters and Tamara Anderson on backing vocals. Guitarist Bobby Messano (Steve Winwood) left his stamp on the album with some scorching riffs on “Triclops” and “American Girl.” Mike Cammilleri (The Kissers, Hometown Sweethearts), James “Pie” Cowen (The Know-It-All Boyfriends), Kris Crow (Kris Crow Band, The Prince Experience, 52nd Street), Peter Neumer (One Eyed Jacks, Sly Stone, The Prince Experience), Dave Schmidt, Kevin Topel (The Ragadors, Delta Routine), and Jimmy Voegeli (The Jimmys) all contributed as well.
Their self-titled album is heavily influenced by blues-based retro 70s rock with some 90s grunge sound mixed in. Daniel Nathan wrote the songs and Evil Kneevers produced, engineered, mixed and mastered the 2011 release. In 2012, Well Informed Citizens were nominated for Best New Artist in the 32nd Annual Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) Awards, and were also nominated for several 88.9 Radio Milwaukee's "Milwaukee Music Awards": Best Band, Best Album, and "See You Falling" for Best Song and Catchiest Song.
